Bright Side of the Road
At the beginning of every year since 2011 The State Theatre has presented concerts featuring some of Central Pennsylvania’s best musicians interpreting the song catalogs of beloved international music stars to raise funds for the State itself and a local charitable organization. This year’s edition of the annual series, “Bright Side of the Road,” features the music of Van Morrison and will benefit Strawberry Fields and The State Theatre.
“Van the Man” is one of the most prolific and acclaimed songwriters of the past 50 years. The hundreds of songs on his more than 30 albums range from blues to R&B to jazz to soul to pop to folk to Celtic to country to gospel to multiple flavors of rock and roll, with more than a few defying categorization altogether. Expect to hear songs you’ve known and loved for most of your life, and unknown gems that will still send chills up your spine.
“Bright Side of the Road” continues the tradition of charity shows that began with “Heart Of Gold” (featuring the music of Neil Young) and continued through “Because the Night” (featuring the music of the greatest women in rock and roll) and “Running Down A Dream” (featuring the music of Tom Petty). With these past concerts selling out, we encourage you to purchase tickets early as you don’t want to miss this amazing night!
